01 - Die Pilzen "Heia Walpurgisdub (Dub Rogue's Nimbus 2000 Discomix)" 9:32 min.
Die Pilzen was a German rap crew operating during the late 90s with two official albums on Deck 8 label, one self-released album (2001) and a couple of compilation features. Rapper Nickel at some point quit, while Maxwell Smart joined forces with DJ Robert Smith as Smith & Smart. They are still active and have quite a big fanscene in Switzerland.
The original song "Heia Walpurgisnacht" is from Die Pilzen's 1997 debut album "Gegenwarten... und andere Situationen". Dub Rogue started a remix in early 1998, thus predating his artist name as well as Dub Flash. For many reasons, this remix never got finished, and got postponed again and again and again... It was never forgotten though and finally, in 2023, 25 years in the making, it's ready. It's been kept as original as possible, albeit it came a long way since 1998. Actually, not even the tempo of the song is the same anymore. It's crazy to think that no acapella version of this song exists, and still, there is a remix with the vocal now. Modern technology... On a sidenote, Dub Rogue is still able to rap along this song all those years later. The lyrics have been cemented in his brain, apparently.
Music critic L. Huger from Helsinki: "Dub Rogue is back with another whimsical boom tune."
